A planned new urban residential community, with all associated infrastructure and facilities designed by GHE masterplanning team, also included provision for multiple public and civic spaces, continuous promenade, district park and streetscape. The GHE landscape architecture team worked in tandem, to conceptualise an inclusive, holistic and balanced landscape framework. By granting the design of all public spaces to one team, an ambitious scheme could be realised, fully coordinated and detailed.

Working with local municipalities to ensure acceptable street furniture, finishes and planting in line with long term maintenance regimes and budgets, the success of this project lies in its provision of diverse outdoor environments and experiences. The masterplan includes at its heart generous civic plazas on a central spine, surrounded by municipal and commercial buildings, this central axis leads from the residential neighborhoods to a district park. The district park includes targeted facilities for all ages and abilities including a wheelchair accessible fitness park, sports facilities, playgrounds and gardens. Whilst smaller parks include outdoor gyms for able bodied, and specifically for the elderly, multi sports games areas, diverse playgrounds themes for age group specific users, bmx and bike tracks.

The streetscape, whilst limited by infrastructure, has been designed to be pedestrian friendly with planting where possible, shading and street furniture in clusters and extensive palette of intricate paving patterns to add character to neighborhoods. A strategic and segregated cycle framework is designed on wider footways, and links to a continuous cycle way included on the promenade.

The promenade has been envisaged as an unique facility allowing continuous walking, cycling and recreation all adjacent to the sea. With native and salt tolerant planting throughout the distinct design zones, the promenade will draw residents and visitors alike.
