Over one million sq.m of land located in the southern governorate of Bahrain, the King Abdulla Medical City will be a multiple phased development accommodating academic, healthcare, residential, commercial and recreational facilities; a self-sufficient state of the art healthcare development.

Using analogy with the human spine, the master plan arrangement connects together the various components of the project and establishes a framework for the inception of the 1st phase and the long-term growth of the campus.

The spine helps to connect diverse land uses, create a unified campus atmosphere, and distribute the open spaces which vary according to their scale and importance.

Connectivity is a key planning objective addressed on three integrated levels within the spinal master plan: vehicular network, pedestrian, and a monorail system to reduce dependency on the use of vehicles and promote sustainable development.
