This mosque accommodates 10,000 people inside and 10,000 in the Sahn and provides facilities for ablution, social interaction, and shopping.

The design of the mosque is derived from the Bahraini traditional mosques with many symbols and references. The five Islamic pillars have been symbolized by the five minarets dominating the skyline.

In the design of the dome and the minarets, for example, the palm tree has been abstracted to give shape and character. Moreover, the design also incorporates modern techniques such as the glass skylights which are then overlaid with Islamic patterns thus creating a dramatic play of lights and shades inside.

The architecture of the mosque is intrinsically derived from being and becoming of the Bahraini society, and there is no doubt that it will become a significant monument of our times, a space par excellence and a place of admiration and veneration.
