The Sakhir Conference Centre will house primarily GCC meetings, but can also cater for other state gatherings such as Arab Town Organisation and Arab League.

Located in the Al Sakhir Palace premises and linked to an existing VVIP facility. Both buildings operate functionally and visually in mutually supportive manner despite the difference in time of their completion. The main conference hall is placed at the centre of the building surrounded by the different support facilities of meeting rooms, majlises, offices and powder rooms. Aesthetically, the conference center is a state of the art facility that fuses old and new whilst respecting the deep historical significance of Al Sakhir site.

An interesting element in the elevation is the double-skin dome with its outer perforated envelope inspired by the shape of palm fronds. In between, light is integrated to give a dignified image by night.

References to local architecture are also used to provide the building with a strong national identity.
